One of the great things about the Okinawan Festival is that it is organized and staffed almost entirely by volunteers. Annually, more than 2,000 volunteers donate their unique skills and services to make the Festival possible.
There are a wide variety of opportunities for individuals willing to volunteer their time for a worthwhile cause.
To volunteer, contact Hawaii United Okinawa Association at 676-5400 or e-mail: info@okinawanfestival.com
Currently, volunteers are needed for the following:
PRE FESTIVAL CONSTRUCTION & SET UP
Tuesday, August 30 to Friday, September 2: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, we need strong, able bodied people to help unload equipment and supplies from two huge containers. Construction will begin after containers are unloaded. We especially need carpenters, plumbers, electricians and extra helpers to assist Masa Shiroma and his crew.
FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS
We need volunteers in all aspects of the Festival, such as working in the food booths, parking and security duty, doctors and nurses for the first aide station and other duties throughout the day.
POST FESTIVAL CLEAN UP
Monday, September 5: starts 8 a.m.
Help needed to breakdown, load the containers, clean up the entire festival grounds.
