1. Ohana

The Okinawan community has been able to continue to be preserved and perpetuated through the strong ties of Ohana, meaning family in Hawaiian. Our community had started to come together during the plantation era as immigrant workers and has been able to continue to be preserved. Through this theme, we wish to capture memories that families make at this year's Okinawan festival.

Examples include family members enjoying the festival, people volunteering together at festival booths, and any scene that embodies the Aloha spirit or Ohana coming together.

2. Culture

The Okinawan culture known as Uchinanchu, can be traced back many years. It is our hope to capture the spirit and essence of the Okinawan culture as it is expressed through teh festival

Examples include but are not limited to: cultural booths, activities and events, people interacting with those booths, activities, or cultural displays.
